In this section, we will discuss the separation experience for children and strategies to help children cope.

It’s important to address your children’s response to your separation. When you acknowledge and understand what your children are experiencing, you will be able to listen and respond to their emotions and feelings. 

To start, we will examine the separation experience for children. One of the most difficult questions parents have to deal with when they decide to separate is: “How will the separation affect my children?”

In the video you are about to watch, the children speak about their experience, feelings and thoughts on separation. They also reveal some of their emotional and behavioral responses during and after the separation process.
